We are looking for the right person to move in and live in our 5 bedroom home. There are two adult males living here now. Father and son.
The rent, electricity, heat, hot water, TV, high speed internet with shared laundry, kitchen and bathroom’s will be provided in exchange for help with various tasks throughout the day and night seven days a week. Not a Paid Position. Housing in Exchange for Labor.
The average required hours per day would be approximately three hours. This time is usually split between morning, noon and night.
We have been breeding Labrador Retrievers for over 35 years. We are looking for someone to help in tasks related to the kennel.
The type of person who may find this arrangement beneficial to them would most likely be someone who is single, retired, collecting social security, does not work a normal full time job. Someone who doesn’t travel often and for long periods of time.
This person should be a responsible, hard worker who is physically able to lift heavy items (up to 50 lbs). Be able to work in all weather conditions.
This person must be comfortable working in dirty and smelly conditions (cleaning up after adult dogs and puppies).
Having experience with animals is a plus.
To save my time and your time let me state that this is no easy, come as you go commitment that should be taken lightly. Yes we offer our home, utilities and more, but expect whoever stays here as a guest with us be committed to the kennel and their daily duties.
No Couples
No Children
No Drug or Heavy Alcohol Use
Listed below is the times of the day that we would need you to be available.
-except for in emergency situations
-or when we are notified ahead to time and can arrange a replacement for the time of day.
1.) 9:45am Monday through Sunday the adult dogs need to be fed and water buckets cleaned and refilled. Should take no more than a half an hour.
2.) The puppies then would have their living areas cleaned and disinfected. Given fresh food, water and papers. You will need to check mid day and afternoon to maintain living area, food and water and papers.
* Depending on if the mother is still nursing the puppies, the mother may need to be brought back in to the puppies to nurse or brought back out for a period of time to let the puppies adjust to normal dog food.
* There are times when we have no litters of puppies and times when we have 2 or 3 at a time.
* Once learned the morning routine usually takes no more than 1.5 hours if we have puppies. If we don’t have puppies the morning usually takes a half hour.
Below are things that may or may not be needed but for sure will happen here and there.
3.) There maybe times here and there where I may need help moving a dog from one kennel to another.
4.) Sometimes I may need help putting adult dogs or puppies in the vehicle for transportation to the Vets.
5.) About once a month we make a bulk purchase of dog food and would ask for help unloading from the truck to the food storage shed we back the truck up to. The bags weight is 50lbs and there maybe 10-20 bags.
6.) During the wintertime and after snowfall, help with shoveling around doorways and entryways to the home and dog kennels is needed. We will plow the driveways with the truck for everything else. If its icy then a quick layer of salt must be laid out.
7.) Giving the puppies a bath before they are sent to their new home 8 weeks after they are born.
The usual overall time you would spend helping out in a day is about 2.5 – 3 hours. Other than that you are free to do as you please.
Occasional guests are allowed but not for overnight stays please.
You would have to have your own reliable vehicle. We are not in walking distance to anything. Closets small convenience store is a mile away.
If you feel this maybe a good arrangement for you than please reach out to me and we can set a day for you to show up around 9:45am and walk you through the morning routine. Show you the room you would be staying in.
After that we may have you stay a night or two to get an idea of what it may be like living here and helping out and we can go from there.
If and when you may stay with us we will sign and have notarized a contract / agreement between you and I and the kennel stating that if there is any issue that cannot be resolved between you and I and the kennel that we reserve the right to ask you the (guest) to leave permanently with your belongings within an agreed upon time frame. We do ask that you not change your mailing address to receive mail here and keep a post office box or other location for your mailing needs.
Serious inquires only. Have a good day.
